A self build project, this small structure was built by two people in two days using reclaimed 2 x 4 timbers. An exercise in what could be achieved with a single material and simple methods of fixing, the timber twist was constructed in a private woodland in Cumbria in 2017. Design and construction was carried out in an intense timeframe using same section timbers - as a test of what could be achieved within limited time and with a limited volume of material. The project explores the idea of 'designing through making' - an approach which Zoë Berman pursues in her teaching.
